IST Rugby World Cup Predictions
Kick-off for the Rugby World Cup is nearing and naturally, the excitement in the office is building. Working in sports travel means there is no shortage of rugby fans here, so before the games get underway, we have made our staff predictions for the winners of the Rugby World Cup 2023.
Josh - Business Development Executive
Winner: New Zealand
Little has been said about this Southern Hemisphere giant in recent years. Bowing out against England in the last RWC Semi Finals was a big surprise, and since then, they have had little showing, lingering around the 3rd/4th IRB Global Rankings. A well drilled team with unbelievable depth. An upset against France in the opening ceremony will give the All Blacks the confidence they need to see this RWC out. If not, then it’s England winning it… or is that just wishful thinking?
Oli - Marketing, Sales and Operations Coordinator
Winner: Ireland
They showed some real promise in the six nations with a grand slam. Great depth in the team with a mix of new and experienced players.
Will - Business Development Manager
Winner: France
Sitting slightly on the fence but whoever wins the opening game! France – Partisan home support and great team. New Zealand – Always show up for World Cups and are peaking at just the right time with their Rugby Championship win. I’ll go France.
Manan - CEO
Winner: South Africa
Defending champions and the team to win it last time in France was them!
Rob - Head of Marketing
Winner: France
I’m going with France - I had been Ireland for a long time, but I’ve decided to go with the romantic home nation victory!
Fleur - Social Media Manager
Winner: New Zealand
New Zealand all the way. It is the most experienced squad they’ve ever had going into a World Cup, but also, I may never be able to go home to New Zealand if I said any other team!
Steve - Business Development Executive
Winner: France
They’ve got the home advantage, deepest squad depth, and most talented players. Theirs to lose!
Alex - Head of Sales
Winner: England
The draw is favourable until the semi-final. Once we get to the semi-final, we will be in great shape to beat one of the top teams. In Borthwick we trust….
Chris - Business Development Executive
Winner: Argentina
Now firmly established within the top 10, their continual progression has made recent results worth noticing. It will be all about how well they travel and if they can keep momentum going. They are ready to take a big scalp!
Nick - Senior Operations Manager
Winner: New Zealand
It's New Zealand’s for the taking this year. The 2023 team has incredible depth, and I’d be surprised if the Kiwis didn’t take it out.
Cielly - Account Assistant
Winner: England
I really hope England are the ones to take it out this Rugby World Cup!
